RPGs 101: Learning to Run the Game

Greetings New Adventurers!

Have you heard of tabletop Roleplaying Games like Dungeons & Dragons, but don’t know where to start?

Are you interested in leading your friends on their own personal adventure, but you’ve never played, let alone stepped “behind the screen” as a Game Master?

Roleplaying games allow you to invite your friends to use their imagination and tell a collective, improvisational story. They are some of the most fun you can have around a table; but for new players, it can be tricky to figure out where to begin! This class will go over the basics of running a beginner-level RPG session with your friends, family, or even coworkers! Topics will include:

  • Session Fundamentals: What you need, and what you don’t

  • Before the Session: Where to start, and how to prepare before the game

  • Rules Essentials: Which rules should you know, and which can you ignore

  • Adventure Recommendations: What to stories to run, what to avoid, and why

  • Teaching New Players: Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

Class Length: 1.5 hours

Intended Ages: 8 and up

Ticket Price: $25

Class Date & Time: Saturday March 12th, 11:00-12:30pm EST
